Bill Haney Wants Devin vs. Jack Catterall In The UK

Devin Haney

Bill Haney, the father of Devin Haney wants to see his son box Jack Catterall in the UK.

After Catterall defeated Regis Prograis, all signs pointed to him facing Haney next. It would be a massive fight, and Bill Haney wants to see the bout happen in the UK.

“Who else is better than Catterall? We’re not saying Jack here. We’re saying Jack in the UK in his hometown where everybody believes in him is what we find interesting,” said Bill Haney to Thaboxingvoice about wanting his son, Devin Haney, to face Jack Catterall in the UK… “It’s an opportunity to go fight in the UK. It’s not a feat for the faint of heart with Devin being an A-side champion in America going to Australia, going to the UK. I think a fight against Catterall at 140 keeps us right in line for Teofimo Lopez or any of the champions at 140.”

Devin Haney going into enemy territory would be massive, and a fight between him and Catterall in the UK would be highly-anticipated.

Ultimately, Haney says if the fight can’t happen in the UK, he would like his son to fight someone else, but the preference is to face Catterall.

“If Jack Catterall gets the UK fans going, then there’s their guy. That’s an opportunity for us to go there. It’s about teaming up with Turki Alalshikh and, of course, Eddie Hearn to make that fight what it could potentially be. If the fight doesn’t happen with Catterall, we can go back home and fight someone there,” said Bill Haney.

Devin Haney is 31-0 and one NC as a pro. He’s coming off the NC to Ryan Garcia which originally was a decision loss but was overturned after Garcia tested positive for banned substances. Haney has notable wins over Vasyl Lomachenko, Prograis, George Kambosos Jr., and Jorge Linares among others.
