Tyson Fury – time to reflect
Tyson Fury fell short in his attempt to get revenge on Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight rematch – but that doesn’t mean it’s all said and done with regards to his illustrious career.
When you lose to someone like Oleksandr Usyk, there’s absolutely no shame in it. At the same time, when you lose twice, it may signal that you need to think about what your future looks like at the elite level. We aren’t suggesting that Tyson Fury should be riding off into the sunset and retiring, because he’s proven time and time again that he can overcome adversity.
In equal measure, we do think that he needs to pick a fight that makes sense for his next outing. He prepared, seemingly, as well as he possibly could for Usyk, and it wasn’t enough. Still, there are quite a few heavyweights out there he would’ve beaten on that night. One of them, potentially, is Anthony Joshua.
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua – it’s time
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua should’ve happened years ago. It’s a boxing crime that it didn’t, and it’s a real shame that it didn’t go down when they were both at the peak of their powers. Still, the ideal timeline has been and gone, and now, all we can really do is ask the question: is it still a relevant fight in 2025?
The answer is yes, obviously. This showdown could, and would, sell out Wembley Stadium 50 times over, even with both men coming off of a loss. This is the kind of bout that would create generational wealth for them, and for the fans in attendance, we imagine they’d witness one of the most remarkable showcases in the history of the sport.
For Tyson Fury, it should be seen as incredibly winnable, and incredibly wise.
