Canelo Alvarez reportedly in talks for William Scull fight

Canelo Alvarez

Canelo Alvarez‘s team is reportedly considering a showdown with William Scull for his next bout inside the ring.

As we know, Canelo Alvarez is widely considered to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. He’s certainly one of the best of his generation, and that much we know for sure. Some have even discussed the possibility of him squaring off against Terence Crawford, but as of now, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be next for the Mexican sensation.

Given everything he’s achieved in the sport, it’s always interesting to see what direction someone like Canelo Alvarez is going to go in. So, then, when William Scull had the following to say in a recent interview, many took notice.

Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull?

“The truth is that there are three offers: to Berlanga, to Canelo and at the time there was talk of [Christian] Mbilli but I think that was left behind because the offer was not very good,” Scull told Punos Cubanos.

“But we are aiming to unify with Canelo Alvarez. And now on January 10 we will speak over the phone and they will tell us more later.

“I will keep you informed on what is coming because this is going to be a great year.

“That will be a good fight for me [with Canelo] to continue dreaming and continue making history.”

For William Scull, this is an opportunity he’s been waiting for. The 23-0 was listed as the mandatory challenger for Canelo Alvarez’s IBF’s super middleweight belt in 2024, but Canelo opted to head in a different direction.

Now, it seems like lightning may well strike twice for the 32-year-old. It’s still going to be incredibly tough for him to overcome someone of Canelo Alvarez’s stature, but in a game like this, anything is possible.
