Devin Haney still wants Ryan Garcia rematch

Devin Haney

Devin Haney is still very interested in squaring off with Ryan Garcia in a rematch from their meeting last year, which ended in a fairly one-sided result.

For Devin Haney, he’s heading into the most important moment of his career to date. He’s coming off the back of a humiliating defeat to Ryan Garcia and while it was overturned to a no contest due to Garcia testing positive for banned substances, there are still plenty of question marks regarding Haney’s performance on the night.

At this point in proceedings, it’s all about Devin Haney getting back on the winning trail, likely with a tune-up fight. With that being said, the man himself noted in a recent interview that he’s still very focused on the possibility of a second Garcia fight.

“The biggest fight,” said Devin Haney to Boxing News, talking about a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia being the “biggest” fight in the sport. “He’s got to be clean. That’s the only way a rematch can happen, but that’s a fight that I would love to make in 2025. Maybe we can make it, but I just want to be on an even playing field.

“I’m here to meet with His Excellency Turki Al-Shiekh to try and make a deal happen. If not, I’ve got a deal with BLK Prime, who is willing to give me what I want. We can go that route. I’m here for a reason, and we can make it happen,” said Haney.

Devin Haney is still an exceptionally talented fighter and either way, there’s an excellent chance he’ll go on to do some great things in the sport. Alas, in equal measure, many will continue to wonder what would happen if they run this one back.
