Is Tyson Fury serious?

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Potential Match Odds

As you may have heard, Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from professional boxing – but as is always the case, fans are wondering whether or not it’s a legitimate move.

The man known as ‘The Gypsy King’ has retired from the sport in the past. It turned out to be nonsense, and in recent years, Tyson Fury has actually been pretty active with regards to his in-ring career. At the age of 36, though, it makes sense that he’d consider walking away – especially after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury has been there and done it all and really, he has nothing left to prove at the elite level. He could ride off into the sunset and go down as easily one of the top two or three heavyweights of his generation, which is a solid legacy to have.

Alas, we have to come back to that all-important question: was Tyson Fury being legit?

The Tyson Fury dilemma

If we had to put money on it? No, Tyson Fury isn’t actually retiring from pro boxing. Instead, he’s pushing for even more money in what could be the most lucrative fight of his career – a showdown with Anthony Joshua. We all know that this is the bout British fans have been waiting for, and they could easily sell out Wembley Stadium ten times over for a contest of this magnitude.

There’s still money left on the table and even if that isn’t the motivation for him, Fury won’t want to go out on two losses. At the very least, he’ll want to redeem himself and get back in the win column and go out on his own terms.

As for Anthony Joshua, you’d have to think he’ll be sitting back and wondering the same thing – but in reality, he probably knows the answer.
