Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez – Betting Preview
Later this year, the expectation is that Terence Crawford will battle Canelo Alvarez in what will easily serve as one of the biggest boxing matches of this, or perhaps any other, generation.
When you talk about the best of the best within this generation, it’s near enough impossible not to include Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez in that conversation. They have both won endless world titles and turned back elite contenders at every available opportunity, and now, it seems like they’re finally turning their attention to each other.
Terence Crawford, after his massacre of Errol Spence Jr, has been looked upon by many as the pound for pound best boxer in the game. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez has caught some heat lately for supposedly not fighting the best available contenders.
Well, if there’s still anyone doubting him upon hearing that this one may well be going down in Las Vegas later this year, we’d say they’re not paying attention.
Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez awaits
The term “great” is thrown around far too loosely these days but if you want to talk about legitimately iconic boxers, Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez need to be featuring in that conversation. As his career has gone on, Canelo has focused more on using his elite boxing ability to grind out decisions. In some ways, it’s comparable to Floyd Mayweather.
On the flip side, you’ve got Terence Crawford. Prior to his win over Israil Madrimov, he had an 11-fight winning streak. While finishing fights alone isn’t enough to prove that one of these men is better than the other, it does highlight that Crawford seems to hold a more dominant edge over his foes than Canelo – at least at this point in their careers.
For Alvarez, however, weight is going to be an important piece of the puzzle here. He holds the size advantage over Crawford and there had to be some real negotiations between the two about what weight they were going to meet at. Either way, it’s likely that Canelo will have to somewhat drain himself, whereas Terence Crawford will focus on trying to make himself a more imposing figure.
Regardless of which way you look at this, it’s hard to picture anything other than this one going the distance. Crawford has never even lost on the professional stage, whereas Alvarez’s two defeats both came via decision – with one coming at the hands of Dmitry Bivol who, let’s face it, was far more likely to get him out of there than Terence.
On a general note, it’s just great to see boxing putting on contests like this for hardcore and casual fans alike. On a deeper level, however, we have to say this is a tight one to call.
Whether you’re into your betting or more into betFIRST Casino games, this is the kind of showdown that everyone will have an opinion on. For us, there’s one word that we think is going to define the narrative – and that word is controversy.
