NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has revealed his plan to invest in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after attending their KnuckleMania event in Lakeland, Florida on Friday.

O’Neal has shown himself to be a savvy businessman since ending his career in basketball. The NBA fan favourite has a diverse portfolio of investments that include the early backing of Google and Apple. He has always been a big combat sports fan. O’Neal even shared the ring with Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley in exhibition bouts as part of his “Shaq Vs.” TV show.

O’Neal will now enter the combat sports world as an investor. He has a particular interest in Bare Knuckle boxing which he told USA Today “is the future of fighting”.

“These are the greatest, toughest athletes in the world,’’ said O’Neal. “The fact that they’re not using gloves makes them the toughest athletes in the world. I think this is the future of fighting.’’

David Feldman who owns Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship says a deal to bring O’Neal on board is virtually done.

“Now we’ve got one of the most sought-after sports figures in the entire world,’’ Feldman said. “Who doesn’t know Shaq? And now he’s going to be part of this company and it’s going to make a lot for people want to be part of the company.’’ (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
