The Klitschko Brothers
The Klitschko brothers are undoubtedly two of the best heavyweights to have ever stepped into the squared-circle. On top of being all-time greats, Vitali and Wladimir are also two of the most educated boxers with a college degree.
These champions don’t have just one degree, but multiple between them. Both the Klitschko brothers hold PhDs in sports and physical education. Vitali also holds a Master’s degree in social development management.
Professional boxers start their career very early. But this does not mean that they do not need education. The former 4x world champion earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Santa Monica University in California. Ali has gone on to open various business ventures, which have been successful.
Chris Algieri
Chris Algeri is easily one of the most intelligent boxers with a college degree. The former world champion’s academic history was widely documented during his successful fighting career.
Before Algieri was winning world titles, he studied nutrition while in college. Algieri would earn a Master’s degree in clinical nutrition and a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare science.
Since retiring from fighting, Chris now works as a nutritionist in his home state of New York.
Juan Diaz
Last up on our list of boxers with a college degree is Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz. The Houston native was one of the best lightweights to ever come out of the city.
During Diaz’s career, he was able to capture the WBA(unified), IBF, WBO, and IBO lightweight titles. Juan wasn’t just a fighter, but an intelligent fighter who also pursued his education.
The former lightweight champion holds a political science degree from the University of Houston and became a successful businessman. “Baby Bull” runs his world-class gym in the city, while also having his own radio show on ESPN Deportes.
