Adrien Broner Talks Possible Ivan Redkach Fight: ‘I’m Gonna F*ck Him Up’
Former four-division world champion Adrien Broner is gunning for a fight against Ivan Redkach and has vowed to stop the Ukrainian welterweight when they finally meet.
Broner hasn’t fought since losing to Manny Pacquiao on a Showtime pay-per-view in January 2019. ‘AB’ put in a disappointing performance losing the fight clearly over 12 rounds. The outspoken fighter frustrated fans further by claiming that he was robbed by the judges despite being clearly outclassed by Pacquiao on the night.
Redkach has being to lure Broner out of retirement and has fired shots at the decorated boxer turned rapper on social media throughout the summer.
Speaking to Brian Custer on the Last Stand Podcast Broner revealed he’d be more than happy to fight Redkach and vowed to “f*ck him up,” he said.
“Man, I would love to go in there and stop him. It’d be a good fight. You know, especially me coming off, I’ve been off for what, two years? I don’t care if we fight. I mean, as long as my money right, we gonna have a hell of a fight. I’m gonna f–k him up, though. He asking for it. He been begging for it.”
The Showtime sports and event programming boss Stephen Espinoza recently told Boxing Scene that the plan was for Broner to return to the ring in January 2021 against “someone credible”.
“We’re in the process of talking about opponents,” Espinoza said. “It’s been two years since he’s fought, so we’re in discussions about the opponent. But it will be somebody credible.”
Redkach is certainly credible. The 34-year-old is just coming off a unaminous decision loss to former two-division champion Danny Garcia. Before that Redkach picked up the biggest win of his career when he knocked out Devon Alexander.
