Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II Postponed, Moved To Gibraltar
Alexander Povetkin and Dillian Whyte are set to compete once again, in what is being called Rumble On The Rock.
The fight was originally set for March 6, but due to government regulations, it will now take place on March 27, in Gibraltar.
The two heavyweights met in the ring in August, 2020, which saw Povetkin win via TKO in round 5.
Eddie Hearn explained that with Whyte’s Portugal training camps, he would need to quarantine upon arrival in the UK.
“Portugal is in the red list, and the issue we’re having is the government won’t allow Whyte to isolate in the bubble, he has to in a government hotel,” Hearn said.
This formed the decision to reschedule and plan at a new venue, with the destination now being Gibraltar.
“Now we have something outside the box, compelling, and a unique setting for one of the heavyweight fights of the year – roll on the Rumble on the Rock.”
Whyte will need to win this contracted rematch, in order to get back on track to a heavyweight title fight.
Details on the Gibraltar venue will be confirmed in the coming weeks, but is still set to air on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and Ireland and on Dazn worldwide.
Do you think history will repeat itself and Alexander Povetkin will win this rematch?
