Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook Sells Out In Minutes
Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook has been a highly-anticipated fight for years and the fans proved that.
In two months’ time on February 19, Khan and Brook will enter the ring to settle their rivalry and the fans are excited. BOXXER announced it sold out in 10 minutes making Khan vs Brook at the Manchester AO Arena one of the fastest-selling events in British boxing history.
The pre-sale on Friday sold out in four minutes only showing the demand for this event is high. After the pre-sale sold out in four minutes, the general public’s tickets sold out in six minutes, so the entire event sold out in 10 minutes.
“We knew we could sell the arena out a few times over but the demand for tickets has been mind-blowing. The arena told us they haven’t seen anything like this in years. The level of national interest in this fight is just off the scale – it’s the biggest British battle in decades. We’re looking forward to an electric night on February 19 for what will be an iconic and legacy-defining fight in front of a sold-out arena and televised live and exclusively on Sky Sports Box Office,” said Ben Shalom, BOXXER’s founder and CEO (via BoxingScene).
Amir Khan (34-5) returned to the win column back in July of 2019 as he TKO’d Billy Dib. Prior to that, he suffered a sixth-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title. The 34-year-old is the former WBA light-welterweight champion and WBC silver welterweight champ among other belts and holds notable wins over Zab Judah, Samuel Vargas, and Luis Collazo. He also competed against Canelo Alvarez and Danny Garcia in his career.
Kell Brook (39-3), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since he suffered a fourth-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford back in November of 2020 for the WBO welterweight title. Prior to that, the 35-year-old was on a three-fight winning streak which snapped his two-fight skid as he suffered knockout losses to Errol Spence Jr., and Gennady Golovkin. He’s the former IBF welterweight champion and holds a notable win over Shawn Porter.
