Amir Khan: When I Destroy Kell Brook, People Will Know He Was All Talk
Amir Khan plans to expose domestic rival Kell Brook.
The two Britons are set to collide in a welterweight contest February 19 in Manchester, England. It’s a fight that has been in the making for many years.
Although both fighters are well past their prime, it’s still a big occasion and public demand was one of the reasons Khan took the fight.
He’s also very confident as he plans to make people realize Brook was all smoke and talk throughout the years.
“One of the reasons why I took the fight was because of the public demand,” Khan told Sky Sports (via BoxingScene). “The first press conference showed that we don’t really like each other. It’s war! We’re going to go in there and it’s going to be a fight.
“We’re not friends and obviously we do dislike each other, but I’m going to show people why I’m the better fighter on fight night. When I do a clinical job on him and I destroy him people will realize he was always smoke, he was always talk.”
Ahead of this fight, Khan has been working with new trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre. He also sparred with former opponent and current WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
Those are among the reasons why Khan feels better than ever going into the Brook contest.
“I know I’ve done everything that I’ve needed to go into this fight,” Khan added. “I’m fit, ready and strong to win this fight. It’s going to be tough but I’m going to go in there and do what I do best.
“I feel sharp, I feel good, the weight’s amazing – I’m literally there on the weight, so I can’t wait to get in the ring and fight.”
