Andrew Moloney And Joshua Franco Set For Rematch
Australia’s Andrew Moloney (21-1, 14 KO) gets the chance to avenge his recent loss at the hands of Joshua Franco (17-1-2, 8 KO) when the pair meet in what will be a highly anticipated rematch.
The two super flyweights squared off last Tuesday (June 23) with Moloney putting his WBA world super flyweight title and undefeated record on the line against the battle-tested Franco. Moloney started strong before Franco took control of the contest in the later rounds, earning a deserved unanimous decision victory.
It was an absorbing contest with both fighters enjoying moments of success, and the rematch promises to be even more exciting as the stakes will be even higher the second time around. Moloney will not want two straight losses on his record. At the same time, if Franco notches a second win over the Australian, the Texan can likely look forward to a unification bout with the legendary Roman Gonzalez, who holds the WBA super world super flyweight championship.
Moloney announced news of the bout earlier today via social media.
Currently, no date has been confirmed as to when the two men will share the ring again, but hopefully it will not be too far away.
