Andy Ruiz Eyes ‘All-Action Fight’ With Deontay Wilder
Andy Ruiz has one eye on Deontay Wilder ahead of his fight against Chris Arreola on May 1.
The only Mexican heavyweight champion in boxing history will return to the ring for the first time since losing his IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBO titles to Anthony Joshua in December 2019. Ruiz had scored a huge upset victory to dethrone the Olympic gold medalist earlier that year.
Wilder hasn’t fought since losing hi WBC strap to Tyson Fury in February 2020.
All being well this weekend, Ruiz is hoping he’ll get the chance to throw down with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ next.
“That would be an exciting fight,” Ruiz told BoxingScene.com. “That would be an all-action fight. He’s a banger. I’m a banger as well. And he’s fought Chris Arreola before. I’m gonna fight him on May 1st, so I think that would be a really, really good fight. I would love for that fight to happen.”
“If everything goes good, you know, there’s a lot of fighters out there for me to fight,” Ruiz added. “There’s Wilder, there’s Tyson Fury. I know he’s gonna fight Anthony Joshua soon, but I gotta stay busy, I gotta stay active and whoever they put in my way, you can best believe I’m gonna give it all I got and train hard for whatever comes my way.”
