Andy Ruiz Jr. Wants To Be More Active Whether Deontay Wilder Is Next Or Not
Andy Ruiz Jr. is hoping to be more active following his decision win over Luis Ortiz.
Ruiz Jr. beat Luis Ortiz last Sunday and scored three knockdowns in the bout. After the win, Ruiz Jr. says he was pleased with his win even though he didn’t get the KO. However, the plan for the Mexican is to be active as possible even if the Deontay Wilder fight doesn’t happen next.
“I would give it a B,” Ruiz Jr. said after the win about his performance. “I was coming off a year layoff. I was fighting a strong veteran who hits hard. He’s a lefty, the first lefty that I’ve faced. He was actually saying he was going to knock me down. He didn’t do that one time. I just thank God that I was able to drop him. I didn’t get the (knockout) but thank God I got the victory. It’s back to the gym for me. I felt rusty after having not fought for a while. I plan to be more active moving forward, whether Wilder or whoever else comes my way.”
Andy Ruiz Jr. and Deontay Wilder have been linked to fighting one another for years now but now it finally seems like it will happen. It would be a massive fight but for Ruiz Jr. he says he just wants to go to gym and get back training and worry about whoever he fights next later on.
“I want to go straight to the gym again,” noted Ruiz Jr. “I didn’t feel like I was at my one hundred percent but we got the victory. I just want to stay busy.”
