Anthony Joshua Backing Tyson Fury To Defeat Deontay Wilder Again
Anthony Joshua doesn’t expect things to change in the trilogy fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
Fury and Wilder will clash for the third time when they fight for the WBC heavyweight title on July 24 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The winner could very well end up facing Joshua in a highly-anticipated title unification clash later this year — provided Joshua gets past Oleksandr Uysk.
And while he doesn’t really mind who comes out on top, he expects Fury to do the business yet again.
“I don’t mind, I don’t mind,” Joshua told talkSPORT. “But Fury won the last one so I’ll go with Fury because you’re only as good as your last performance.
“Good luck to them both.”
The goal of unifying the heavyweight division still remains strong as ever as well ahead of his fight with Usyk which is slated for September.
“I’ve gotta defend my titles,” Joshua said. “I’m gonna be training alongside Ben [Whittaker] and the GB Team, preparing for my championship fight while these guys prepare for the Olympics.
“I’m gonna win because I have to, I’ve got no other option. And then I’m gonna get on to the next fight which is the undisputed. So we’re back on the road to undisputed and I’m supporting the Olympic boys. When they finish with a bang, hopefully the next fight I have will be an undisputed fight. So there will be so many eyes on the boxing scene in 2021 and 2022.”
