Anthony Joshua Believes Francis Ngannou Beat Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua thinks Francis Ngannou should have gotten his hand raised against Tyson Fury.
Fury and Ngannou boxed back in October in a highly-anticipated matchup, but it was one that many expected ‘The Gypsy King’ to cruise to a win. However, the fight was much more competitive than people thought as Ngannou even dropped Fury and looked impressive.
When the fight went to the distance, it was Fury who won a split decision, and Joshua claims the Brit looked like a fat slob in that bout.
“Bodybuilders up, dossers down. He just looked like a flat slob that just can’t fight. He says that bodybuilders can’t fight, but he got smacked up by one. I’ve always wanted to get in the ring with him. He does a lot of talking, calls me a bodybuilder and stuff, but I want to marvel at the African power – he’s a bodybuilder, steps in and smacks him up for me,” Joshua told TNT Sports Boxing.
Given that Anthony Joshua believes Tyson Fury looked like a fat slob against Francis Ngannou, he believes the former UFC heavyweight champion should have gotten his hand raised.
“I think Ngannou won,” Joshua said. “But the judges are there for a reason, they score it how they score it and they’re professionals at what they do and I’m just an observer. Fury won, but from a fan’s point of view, I think Ngannou won.”
However, it was Tyson Fury who won the split decision which set him up to box Oleksandr Usyk in February for the undisputed heavyweight title. After that, there is talk that Fury and Ngannou could run it back after their controversial fight.
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, is set to return to the ring on Dec. 23 against Otto Wallin in an intriguing matchup.
