Anthony Joshua Believes Tyson Fury ‘Needs Me At The Minute’
Anthony Joshua thinks the timing has never been better for him to face Tyson Fury.
Joshua vs. Fury has been a fight many fans have wanted for years but it has lost some luster after Josua lost back-to-back fights to Oleksandr Usyk. Yet, as Joshua is set to return on Saturday against Jermaine Franklin, Joshua believes a win could set up a fight against Fury.
“There is no better time [for me to face Tyson Fury]. Provided the Usyk fight doesn’t happen and he [Fury] doesn’t fight anyone in between, he needs me at the minute,” Joshua told Daily Mail.
Fury and Joshua have been linked together for years and in 2021, the two had agreed to terms to fight one another. But, after Deontay Wilder won his case for the trilogy to happen the fight fell through so now, Joshua is hoping he can finally get the fight to happen.
“In terms of us, the arbitration was done. That was signed and sealed. I was in training for that fight and it fell through. Then we had this recent one where he gave me a deadline,” Joshua said. “I was serious about that fight, I took it. I told Eddie yeah lets look at this situation but Fury was like you have this amount of time to get it done. It’s difficult when someone is trying dictate you and put you under that much pressure. But, it is what is it. I understand his frustrations. He wanted to get out but it wasn’t time permitted. Now, I feel like there is no better time.”
In order for Anthony Joshua to get the fight against Tyson Fury, he will need to beat Jermaine Franklin. If he does that – as many expect – perhaps the Fury fight will come to fruition as he is looking for his next opponent after the Usyk fight fell through.
