Anthony Joshua backed to fight Daniel Dubois in rematch as British star rules out retirement
Ruling out a rematch from professional boxing following his jaw-dropping knockout loss against Daniel Dubois last weekend, Anthony Joshua is expected to face the Londoner in an immediate rematch next according to the bookies, having ruled out a retirement.
Joshua, a former world heavyweight kingpin twice during his decorated professional career, succumbed to his fourth career defeat earlier this month at Wembley Stadium, dropping five knockdowns en route to a stoppage loss against 27-year-old champion, Dubois.
Eventually dropped and stopped in the fifth round with a TKO stoppage, Joshua was toppled by defending undisputed IBF champion, Dubois – who followed in the footsteps of both Oleksandr Usyk and Andy Ruiz Jr. in beating Joshua.

However, weighing up his immediate fighting future in boxing, Anthony Joshua is even money at +100 to fight Dubois in an immediate rematch next with fans set to avail from promos and other betting specials over at 1wins-az.pro.
Urged by mixed martial arts superstar and former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor to refrain from retirement off the back of his knockout loss to IBF champion, Dubois, Watford native, Anthony Joshua confirmed he likely would fight in the future, shutting down a potential hanging up of his gloves for good.
“We came up short but we’ve got to look at all the positives,” Anthony Joshua said on his official social media in a video posted earlier this week. “That’s the mindset and that’s the perspective we’ve got to have, a positive one always. Look at what we’ve achieved in the last 11 years, it’s phenomenal and I want to thank every single one of you who has been riding with me.”
“…It’s only been a day but when I sit back and think, I know I’ve got a lot of heart,” Anthony Joshua explained. “Thanks for your support, thanks for being on this rollercoaster journey with me. Keep your seatbelt tight because deep, deep, deep down in here, I know I’ve got a lot more to bring to the game and long may it continue.”
In his other professional defeats, Joshua dropped a pair of back-to-back decision losses to former undisputed world heavyweight champion, Usyk, whilst suffering a stunning upset knockout defeat to above-mentioned Mexico veteran, Ruiz Jr. in his first venture on American soil in his career, losing his championship belts.
A veteran former world champion twice, Joshua saw his impressive four-fight winning run over Francis Ngannou, Otto Wallin, Robert Helenius, and Jermaine Franklin snapped as a result of his stoppage defeat to Dubois.
During his initial unbeaten run, Joshua would turn in other notable victories over the likes of Dillian Whyte, Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin.
Along with a potential immediate rematch fight with Dubois, Joshua has also been heavily linked with a potential overdue fight with former undisputed WBC heavyweight kingpin, Deontay Wilder next year – as well as another long-anticipated pairing with former champion, Tyson Fury in an all-British pairing in 2025 too, who is preparing for his own title fight rematch with Ukrainian star, Usyk next year in Riyadh.
