Anthony Joshua hasn’t signed deal for next fight, according to Eddie Hearn

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has said that Anthony Joshua has yet to sign a deal for his next fight.

As we know, Anthony Joshua is coming off of one of the most devastating defeats of his career. He was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in his last outing, in a contest that was, in many ways, very one-sided. Despite that, many fans and pundits still believe there’s potential for him to be involved in a couple of really high-profile heavyweight boxing collisions.

One example, of course, would be Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. However, given that ‘The Gypsy King’ recently announced his retirement from the sport, there are still far more questions than answers regarding the feasibility of making that dream become a reality.

There have been rumblings that Anthony Joshua has indeed signed a contract for his next fight. However, if Eddie Hearn is to be believed, that simply isn’t the case.

Anthony Joshua hasn’t signed fight deal yet

“If you look at Twitter [X], he’s signed and agreed to fight Martin Bakole. Today it’s all signed for Wilder against Joshua on June 7th. [But with] both of those fights there hasn’t been one discussion yet,” Hearn said on the 5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce podcast.

I think Martin Bakole is a very good fighter, but don’t get carried away that this is the new George Foreman,” Hearn said.

“The problem with Bakole is, he is a handful, but he doesn’t really bring the dollars for the fight.”

“It’s always been the two – Tyson Fury – who is retired at the moment, we’ll see how long that lasts, and the winner of Dubois-Parker,” Hearn said of Joshua’s ideal next opponent.

Hopefully, fight fans around the world get the chance to watch Anthony Joshua compete again – sooner rather than later.
