Anthony Joshua Prefers To Fight Tyson Fury But Believes Oleksandr Usyk Wins
Anthony Joshua is hopeful both he and Tyson Fury can get their hand raised so the two can finally fight, but the Brit thinks Oleksandr Usyk will spoil those plans.
Joshua is set to return to the ring in March against Francis Ngannou, while Fury will face Usyk in February. The plan is for the winners to fight each other, and although Joshua prefers to face Fury, he does think Usyk will win.
“It’s going to be a good fight,” Joshua told Sky Sports News. “I think Usyk edges it. I’m not really bothered. I just want them both to be healthy and leave the ring. It’s a tough game. So that’s all I can ask for, that they leave the ring healthy. In terms of how it goes, it doesn’t affect my life, in a way. I’m not like one of those fans that’s starts crying because someone won or lost. It is what it is. Tomorrow comes around. Good luck to both of them.”
Regardless of who wins, Anthony Joshua knows it is a massive fight, as it will be his chance to fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. However, he does prefer it to be Fury given the history the two have with one another.
“Probably the opportunity to fight Tyson Fury. I think that’s a better fight for the fans and myself,” Joshua said.
Anthony Joshua has already fought Oleksandr Usyk, twice, losing both by decision. But, since then, Joshua has looked much better as he’s 3-0 and coming off a fifth-round stoppage win over Otto Wallin in a statement-making performance.
