Anthony Joshua Watching Old Fights To Remind Himself What He’s Capable Of
Anthony Joshua says he’s been watching old fights to remind himself what he’s capable of ahead of his bout against Daniel Dubois on Saturday.
Joshua enters the bout for the IBF heavyweight title against Dubois as the betting favorite. It’s an intriguing matchup and leading into the bout, Joshua says he’s been watching old fights of himself to remind him what he is capable of doing in the boxing ring.
“It’s a blessing to be able to perform, prove to myself and prove to my team that I’ve listened to the instructions in training camp,” Joshua said (via BoxingScene). “We’re ready to rock and roll. I’m in supreme condition both physically and also mentally. Its great to be back (at Wembley) and I’ve been watching some of the old fights just to add some fuel to the fire; reminding myself of what I can do and what I am capable of.”
Ultimately, Joshua says he’s just excited about this fight as it’s bringing the heavyweight division back to the UK alive. Joshua knows the heavyweight division has taken over the UK and he’s eager for the bout to happen at Wembley between two British fighters.
“I showed Daniel and his whole team the respect they deserve during training camp and that’s going to put me in good stead on Saturday,” said Joshua. “I’m tough, and so is he. May the best man win really. When I started boxing, I said I wanted to bring the heavyweight division back to life in the UK, and we’ve done that.”
Anthony Joshua is 28-3 as a pro and coming off a KO win over Francis Ngannou on Saturday. Before that, he scored a stoppage win over Otto Wallin. Also on the win streak, he beat Robert Helenius and Jermaine Franklin. Prior to that, he had back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
