Anthony Joshua Willing To Take A Pay Cut To Make Tyson Fury Fight Happen In The UK
Anthony Joshua wants to make the Tyson Fury fight happen and would take a pay cut in order to make sure it happens in the United Kingdom as well.
Joshua vs. Fury is a fight many fans have wanted to see for years. The talks of them fighting only intensified after Fury TKO’d Deontay Wilder in February. However, the two did not strike a deal to box in 2020 as Joshua will now take on Kubrat Pulev on December 12.
If Joshua can get past Pulev, many believe the Fury fight will take place in 2021. If it does happen, Joshua says he would even take a pay cut in order to make the fight happen.
“Yeah, why not? Now I’m fighting Kubrat Pulev for a massive pay cut,” Anthony Joshua said to The Sun. “We have to keep the sport alive. Matchroom are taking pay cuts this year. We are all doing our part at the minute, it’s all experience. We are doing it now so I wouldn’t mind doing it again.”
The hope for Anthony Joshua is to have the event in the United Kingdom. Having Fury box Joshua would be a massive bout for the UK and the only goal for Joshua is to get Fury in the ring.
“It’s not harming me, and it’s for a bigger cause as well,” Joshua said. “It’s a massive cause and a big fight but the main objective is how do we get Fury in the ring.”
If they do end up fighting, it would be one of the biggest events of the year. However, Fury believes Joshua is his easiest opponent.
“The easiest opponent I think would be Anthony Joshua just because he’s tailor-made for me,” Fury explained to Wow Hydrate (via Boxingscene). “If ever I could build a perfect opponent I’d be building him.”
