Anthony Yarde Says He And Joshua Buatsi Shook On Them Fighting Next
Anthony Yarde is hoping for an all-British showdown against Joshua Buatsi next time out.
Yarde returned to the win column on Sept. 23 as he scored a KO win over Jorge Silva. The victory got him back in the win column after he lost to Artur Beterbiev back in January.
Now, following his win, Anthony Yarde said he wants Joshua Buatsi next time out and believes it’s a fight that everyone wants.
“If we’re talking domestically, I want the [Joshua] Buatsi fight,” Yarde said. “That’s what everyone wants, that’s what everyone asks for, and when someone calls upon something so much, it has to happen.”
Joshua Buatsi is a perfect 17-0 as a pro and is set to return on Oct. 21 against Dan Azeez. It will be a tough test for the fellow Brit, but if it happens, Anthony Yarde says the two have already shaken on fighting each other next.
“Buatsi has to get through Dan Azeez and Azeez ain’t no easy customer, but we’ve sat down and we’ve spoken and we said that in 2024, we have to fight. We shook on it and hopefully, it can come to fruition. Ultimately, what AY wants to achieve is world honors. I want to be a world champion. I want to go down in the history as the kid from East London who had 12 amateur fights.”
If Buatsi loses, it’s uncertain what would be next for Yarde. But, Yarde is hopeful he wins as he makes it clear that is the fight he wants and believes it sets him up for another big fight.
