No list of the best Canadian boxers ever is complete without the legend Arturo Gatti. The beloved legend was not only a cherished fighter in Canada, but all over the world.
Boxing fans fell in love with Gatti’s ferocious style, who always went forward and never stepped back. During his career, Arturo won world titles in two divisions and earned FOTY honors four separate times.
Most notable were his unbelievable wars with Micky Ward, which are considered three of the most exciting fights ever. Unfortunately, Gatti’s life was cut short, but he is still remembered as a legend.
Not only as one of the best Canadian boxers ever, but one of the all-time greats.
Sam Langford
Easily among the best Canadian boxers ever and all-time fighters is the pioneer Sam Langford. He was not only one of the first Canadian boxing champions, but also one of the first black world champions.
Langford was one of the most feared fighters of the 1900s as many white fighters avoided him. He was said to have the skills of James Toney with the power of Mike Tyson.
Unofficially, Sam Longford competed in over 300 professional bouts and beat numerous world champions during his career. Due to being black during his time, Langford never got the credit he deserved for how great of a fighter he was.
However, thanks to boxing historians, the legend of Sam Langford lives on and his greatness is remembered.
Adonis Stevenson
Adonis Stevenson is easily one of the all-time best Canadian boxers. He is one of the greatest light heavyweight fighters of the last 30 years, who fought in numerous big title fights.
Despite becoming a pro late at the age of 30, Stevenson quickly became one of the sport’s most talented fighters. In Adonis’ 12 year career, he went 29-2-1 with 24 KOS and was the lineal light heavyweight champion.
The Haitian-Canadian champion put on some incredible performances during his career. Beating everyone from Chad Dawson, Tony Bellew, and Sakio Bika during his pro career.
Adonis had an incredible career and will go down as one of the best light heavyweights of the modern era.
Jean Pascal
We couldn’t wrap up our list of the best Canadian boxers without mentioning the great Jean Pascal. Like Stevenson, Pascal is another one of the best Canadian light heavyweight fighters, who was also a lineal champion.
From 2009 to 2011, Jean was the lineal light heavyweight champ, who retained his titles three times during this reign. He then went on to win two more world title after defeating Badu Jack and Marcus Browne.
At 41, Jean Pascal is still active and looking to add another world title to his impressive fighting career.
