Bob Arum Claims Dillian Whyte Poses More Problems To Tyson Fury Than Deontay Wilder Did
Bob Arum believes Dillian Whyte is a challenge for Tyson Fury despite what many fans think.
Arum co-promotes Fury but the Brit’s other co-promoter, Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, secured the promotional rights when he stamped down a record $42 million for Fury vs. Whyte. The fight is an intriguing one but many view it as a big step down from Wilder, yet for Arum, he believes Whyte poses a lot of problems for the heavyweight champ.
“Whyte has a great chance because he’s a big, big puncher,” Arum told IFL TV (via BoxingScene). “He’s a very rugged heavyweight, a very experienced heavyweight. If anything, he poses a bigger danger to Tyson than even Deontay Wilder did.”
Whyte has shown in his career he has the ability to win fights with one punch. However, as we saw in the three Fury-Wilder fights, the Brit was able to be elusive enough to avoid the power shots and just outbox Wilder, which many expect him to do against Whyte.
Regardless, it is a key fight for the heavyweight division as the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte will likely face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Johsua 2 to unify the division. That would prove who is the best heavyweight, but for Tony Bellew, he already says Fury is clear-cut better than them all.
“Tyson Fury right now is the best heavyweight in the world,” Bellew told Talk Sport. “I think Oleksandr Usyk pushes him close but the way he dealt with Deontay Wilder last time out you can’t say he’s not the number one.”
Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte will likely take place in April in the UK. It will be a homecoming for Fury who hasn’t fought at home since 2018 when he defeated Francesco Pianeta.
Do you agree with Bob Arum that Whyte poses a bigger problem to Fury than Wilder?
