Bob Arum: Fury vs. Wilder III To Take Place In Las Vegas At One Of Three Venues
The trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is set — the venue just needs to be decided.
After an arbitrator ruled that Wilder was contractually obligated to a third fight with Fury which threw off any plans for a title unification clash with Anthony Joshua, the wheels were soon in motion.
As per Top Rank Boxing promoter Bob Arum — who co-promotes Fury — there is no chance of Wilder stepping aside.
And so, the trilogy looks set to take place July 24 in Las Vegas with three venues currently in discussion.
“July 24th in Las Vegas,” Arum told iFL TV (via Boxing247). “We’re now talking to the people at the Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile, MGM, and we’ll figure out jointly by the end of the week which venue we’ll be using and that won’t be a problem, but it’ll definitely be here in Las Vegas.”
Arum also revealed in another interview that Fury plans on taking his frustration out on Wilder and finishing him even quicker this time around.
“There’s no chance he [Wilder] will step aside,” Arum told Boxing Social (via BBC). “Whatever it is, the judge said he had a right to the rematch and we are going to go ahead with it.
“It is what it is. He [Fury] will take out his frustration and anger on Wilder and he tells me he will knock Wilder out quicker than he did last time.”
Should Fury come out on top and Joshua emerge victorious in his next fight — likely to be Oleksandr Usyk — Arum sees no reason why the long-awaited fight can’t take place later this year.
“I don’t think it will be difficult after they both win, if they both win, to renew talks,” Arum added. “We have been through it, we know all the ins and outs and it will come together quite quickly. At least that is my hope.”
