Bob Arum Hopeful Tyson Fury Doesn’t Stand Toe-To-Toe With Francis Ngannou
Bob Arum is hoping Tyson Fury doesn’t stick to his word and just stands toe-to-toe with Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou is the former UFC heavyweight champion and set to make his boxing debut. While he was in the UFC, Ngannou was known for his one-punch KO power and Arum says that is something Fury has to be worried of.
“That guy was training in my home city of Las Vegas, and the word got back to me from everybody who was watching him that he was knocking guys down in the gym, and that he has the most powerful punch that they’ve seen. That being said, he doesn’t have the boxing experience that Tyson Fury has. But I just hope that Tyson is smart enough, and I’m sure he is, not to stand toe-to-toe with this guy and trade punches,” Arum said to Dev Sahni and Andy Clarke during the grand arrivals.
Although Bob Arum says he doesn’t want Tyson Fury to stand toe-to-toe with Francis Ngannou, he knows ‘The Gypsy King’ did it against Deontay Wilder and has confidence because of that. But, Arum wants to remind Fury he did get knocked down twice against Wilder when he did that.
“Well, that wasn’t so smart,” Arum quipped. “He got knocked down twice.”
If Tyson Fury does stand and trade with Francis Ngannou, it would make the fight more closer on paper. But, Fury is confident he will eventually get the KO win which will set up the fight with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title.
