Bob Arum Insists Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury Is Easy To Make
Top Rank CEO and co-promoter of WBC heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury, Bob Arum has insisted a fight between ‘The Gypsy King’ and unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is the “easiest” of fights to make.
Earlier this year it was announced both men had agreed in advance to a two-fight deal. It now seems in 2021 they will finally square off for all the marbles.
‘AJ’ successfully defended his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO titles against his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev at the O2 Arena in London, England last night to set up an all-British undisputed fight. In the aftermath of Joshua’s ninth-round knockout win against Pulev, Arum was confident about making Joshua-Fury.
“That fight will be the easiest fight to make, no f–king around, no nothing,” Arum told BoxingScene.
“The basic terms have already been agreed on and so I think we’ll go to a memorandum of understanding and then decide and figure out mutually a site for it, how the television is going to be distributed and things like that.”
Arum even began speaking about potential host sites for the mega-money bout which is attracting bidders from all over the globe. The veteran promoter expects the bout to land in Abu Dhabi where Joshua regained his titles against Andy Ruiz last year.
“We have everybody there bidding for the fight,” Arum said, mentioning groups from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. “You either do it there or you do it in the U.K. If you do it in the Middle East it’s approximately prime time in London, so it would it be an afternoon fight in the United States, but the fight is not nearly as big in the United States as it is in the U.K. We’ve never ever even mentioned doing it in the United States.”
Do you agree with Bob Arum? Is Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury an easy fight to make?
