Bob Arum Likes Idea Of Terence Crawford vs. Josh Taylor In The UK

A super fight between Terence Crawford and Josh Taylor? Bob Arum is a fan of the idea.

Taylor recently unified the super lightweight division after a dominant display in his unanimous decision victory over Jose Ramirez this past weekend.

He would later declare his desire to move up and face WBO welterweight champion Crawford, who notably unified the 140-pound division before Taylor.

“I’m not going to be short of options of what comes my way,” Taylor said. “Everything’s going to be huge. Nothing but big fights. We’ll ride the wave … I’d like to go up to 147 and chase Terence Crawford. He’s a great fighter. Two undisputed champions going out at 147 would be awesome, amazing.

“That’s the fight I want. Not only do I want it, I think I can beat him.”

Arum — who promotes both fighters — told The Athletic that he likes the idea of a fight between Crawford and Taylor in the United Kingdom.

Crawford facing Shawn Porter? Not so much.

“We’ll look for whoever the best guy is to put him with,” Arum said. “We could make a big fight (for Crawford) against (former welterweight champion Shawn) Porter, but who’s going to pay for it?

“There’s a limit to what I can get out of ESPN. And on pay-per-view, I have no confidence that it’s going to do a big number. Crawford’s never done anything on pay-per-view. Nothing against him. It is what it is.”

However, Crawford’s lack of drawing power can be negated by the home support Taylor would receive should a fight happen in the United Kingdom.
