Boxer Gets DQ’d For Repeatedly Stomping On Opponent’s Head
Saul Farah (72-26-3, 62 KOs), 38, of Bolivia was close to getting finished by Pedro Tabares when Tabares was DQ’d after he stomped on his opponent’s head.
It was Tabares’ pro debut who was dominating the fight and had rocked Farah several times. Yet, when he dropped him, and stomped on his head several times which got the corners into the ring to stop him. The video was captured by Tim Boxeo and after that, the video went viral.
After the incident the ref, to no surprise, called off the fight and DQ’d Tabares. He had to pull Tabares off Farah who was still on the ground badly hurt. As the scorecards were announced, it was Farah who won by DQ but he was stumbling back to his corner to get treatment.
With the win, Farah has now won two in a row since losing to Marcos Kenny Viscarra in November 2020. He’s also the former interim WBC Latino heavyweight champion but didn’t look like it in the fight. Had Tabares not done that, he would’ve gotten the finish or win a clear decision, but the story is the way the fight ended.
Although this incident caught many by surprise, according to Reduno, the build-up to the fight was filled with trash talk and bad blood. Regardless of how much they didn’t like each other, there is no question this is one of the worst incidents in a boxing ring.
