Boxing Fans Can Be Hopeful of Fury-Joshua Showdown
When talks between the respective camps of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua broke down in 2023, it looked as though the final nail had been added to the coffin of a possible fight between the two British heavyweights.
However, with rival promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren now working together on various events, the prospects of a Fury-Joshua showdown seem to have come alive once again.
Joshua Set for Ngannou Challenge First
Since losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time in 2022, Joshua has recorded three straight victories in the ring to get his career back on track. His next challenge is set to come against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

The British boxer is the -400 favorite in the Anthony Joshua v Francis Ngannou odds, however, he only needs to watch the tape from the Fury-Ngannou bout to see how dangerous ‘The Predator’ can be. Ngannou floored Fury in the third round of that fight before losing on points.
Should Joshua get past Ngannou, there are some big fights open to him later in 2024, including a shot at Fury. The 34-year-old remains a huge draw in the division, despite not having a belt around his waist anymore.
Fury-Usyk Showdown the Highlight of The Year
Boxing fans must wait a little longer to see the much-anticipated clash between Fury and Usyk, as their February fight was postponed after the British boxer picked up a cut in sparring. It has now been moved to May 18.
This fight will see the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000. It will also be the first time that a boxer will hold the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles at once, so there is a lot at stake.
Fury has yet to suffer defeat in his professional career. He drew with American Deontay Wilder in 2018 but then beat the American in the second and third legs of their trilogy. The Gypsy King has since had wins over Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora, and Ngannou.
Although a Fury-Joshua clash does not need a world title to promote it, if Fury does add the WBA, IBF, and WBO belts to go with his WBC version, it would add an extra incentive to this all-British showdown.
Usyk, a man who has faced Joshua twice and beaten him, will be hoping to keep up his 100% record in the ring. The former undisputed cruiserweight champion has continued his success in the heavyweight division. This upcoming fight is set to be the toughest challenge of his career so far.

It is not just Fury, Joshua, and Usyk who are looking for the biggest fights in the heavyweight division, Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang have both also had some eye-catching results over the last 12 months.
The heavyweight division is now one of the strongest divisions in the sport once again. It means there are several options for promoters to put on some strong events over the next couple of years.
If a Fury and Joshua deal can be reached, it is likely to go down as the biggest all-British fight in the history of the sport.
