Brian Norman Jr. Open To Teofimo Lopez Jr. Fight
Brian Norman Jr. believes a fight with Teofimo Lopez makes sense and could happen in the near future.
Norman Jr. and Lopez are both with Top Rank and Lopez has hinted at moving to welterweight and if he does, Norman Jr. is interested in the bout.
“Of course, I’d be interested in that fight,” Norman told BoxingScene. “He is with Top Rank, I am with Top Rank as well, so it would be easy to make. If he wants to come to 147, I will gladly introduce him to the division. Anything is possible. We have seen what he did in the past, trying to be great at a young age. … It could happen, but business is still business. Maybe it won’t happen.”
However, all Brian Norman Jr. cares about is fighting anyone with a belt next time out. When he does fight for the belt, Norman Jr. believes his knowledge is the reason why he has success.
“The main thing is, knowledge is power – but history will forever repeat itself,” Norman said. “You learn from the past, what made this person great and that person great. If you follow what they do, or even do more, you could be just as good as them or even better. The more you know about history, the more you can do today.”
Brian Norman Jr. is 26-0 and 2 NCs as a pro as he won the WBO interim welterweight title last time out with a KO win over Giovanni Santillan. His win over Santillan was his most notable win to date.
Lopez, meanwhile, is 21-1 and is coming off a decision win over Steve Claggett on June 29 to retain his WBO and The Ring light welterweight titles.
