Caleb Plant Believes He’s Sharper Ahead Of David Benavidez Fight Due To Quick Turnaround
Caleb Plant is glad he is making a quick turnaround.
Plant is coming off a KO win over Anthony Dirrell back in October and will now face David Benavidez on March 25 in a highly-anticipated bout. Although Dirrell was not a top-ranked opponent that Plant was used to fighting, he knew a win would get him back there which is the case.
“Going into the Dirrell fight, that being a WBC title eliminator, I knew that would put me in line to fight for the interim belt and I knew winning the interim belt would put me in line to fight the WBC. Again that is just a plan that my team had set in place and we went with the plan,” Plant explained (h/t BoxingScene).
Although Plant wasn’t sure what would be next, he was then offered to face Benavidez at the end of March which he accepted. He knows it’s a big fight and he is glad he is making a quick turnaround as he believes that is when he is at his best and at his sharpest.
“We put in a lot of hard work last camp and then obviously took just a short break and we are getting back to it and building off of last camp. I am in a great spot and the best shape of my life and ready for March 25th… I would be training anyway so regardless, I would be training and working but it is true that it is nice to have a quick turnaround and get back in the ring and get back in front of people,” explained Plant.
Caleb Plant is coming off a KO win over Dirrell and before that, he suffered a TKO loss to Canelo Alvarez which was his first career loss.
