Caleb Plant: I’ll Beat Canelo Alvarez Twice Then Beat Benavidez, Charlo
Caleb Plant not only believes he’ll defeat Canelo Alvarez once — but twice.
Plant is set to challenge for 168-pound supremacy when he faces Alvarez in a super middleweight title unification clash on November 6.
Despite many observers, fans and oddsmakers having Alvarez as a huge favorite, Plant remains confident in his chances.
He recently told doubters not to be surprised if it’s “easier than y’all think.” Plant doubled down when asked about those comments on PBC Podcast (via Boxing News 24).
“Tune in on November 6th and I’ll elaborate,” Plant said. “I can assure you that I’m nobody to play with, and if he [Canelo] feels he has an easy fight on his hands, I can assure you that he has another thing coming.
“If you don’t want to believe me or take my word for it, then please, please tune in on November 6th because there’s going to be a new sheriff in town. By the time it’s all said and done. I’ll beat Canelo Alvarez, and if he wants a rematch that has to be done, I’ll beat him twice.”
Plant didn’t stop there either.
“I’ll beat [David] Benavidez, I’ll beat [Jermall] Charlo and I’ll be crowned as one of the greatest fighters of this era, period,” Plant added.
“I’m doing everything in my power from here until then every day to make sure I accomplish that and do that. Those are the goals that I’ve seen on, and I don’t plan on letting anybody or anything to get in the way.”
Plant’s first step in attaining those goals is beating Alvarez.
