Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders Locked In For May
Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders will come head to head inside the ring this May, on DAZN.
This comes after years of talks surrounding this fight, with May 1st or 8th to be the date.
Canelo is still needing to defeat Avni Yildirim next month, before taking on Saunders.
The fight against Yildirim poses threats towards the Saunders fight being delayed in the instance of Canelo receiving any injuries or cuts.
Mike Coppinger announced the fight confirmation between Canelo and Saunders on Twitter, providing details for the super middleweight showdown.
“Three 168-pound titles up for grabs, fight will land in U.S., first, Canelo will have to beat Avni Yildirim and emerge uninjured,” Coppinger said.
Canelo has previously fought six times on Cino De Mayo weekend, however, this year falls on a Wednesday.
Soucres told ESPN it take place on either of the first two weekends of the month but Alvarez would prefer to fight on May 8.
Canelo comes off a dominant victory over England’s Callum Smith, last December.
The fight went the distance, however, Canelo’s skillsets were on display, showing exactly how good he is.
With one fight to get through for Canelo, we could finally see him take on Billy Joe Saunders, in a fight the fans have been calling for.
