Canelo Alvarez expected to fight Jaime Munguia in May title clash amid PBC split
Boxing supremo, Canelo Alvarez has been linked with a stunning May championship fight with compatriot puncher, Jaime Munguia in his next outing inside the squared circle, amid confirmation of the Guadalajara native’s split from promoter, PBC and Al Haymon.
Canelo, 33, the current WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO super middleweight champion, most recently featured in a high-profile main event fight with Jermell Charlo back in September of last year in Las Vegas, landing a one-sided unanimous decision win over the Lafayette striker.
And as for Munguia, the Tijuana striker improved his professional record to a mean 43-0 back in January, doing what his compatriot couldn’t and stopped John Ryder with a blistering TKO for a WBC silver super middleweight title retention.

Long-linked with a title pairing against his elder, Munguia may land himself a stunning Las Vegas matchup with veteran global superstar, Canelo Alvarez this May – with reports revealing the latter is in line to fight either the former, or Puerto Rico rival, Edgar Berlanga in ‘Sin City’.
