Canelo Alvarez vs Jake Paul could reportedly happen in May

Canelo Alvarez vs Jake Paul could reportedly take place in May – no, seriously, this is an actual thing.
For the longest time, Canelo Alvarez has been seen as one of the best boxers on the planet. For the longest time, Jake Paul has not. Whereas Canelo has fought the best of the best, Paul has made a name for himself as someone who boxes against mixed martial arts fighters, fellow influencers and even older boxers – such as Mike Tyson in their blockbuster Netflix showdown a few months ago.
However, after Jake has spent years calling for a collision with Canelo Alvarez, it now appears as if it might actually happen. For hardcore boxing fans, this may make them feel a little bit sick – but for casuals, this is the kind of moment they may well have been dreaming of.
Jake Paul gets the Canelo Alvarez fight?
According to Dan Rafael, Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul are in “very preliminary” talks for a fight that is being targeted for May 3 in Las Vegas. It would likely take place at the T-Mobile Arena, but that has yet to be confirmed, alongside any other major details about whether or not it’s actually happen.
Thankfully, we know that Rafael is a very legitimate combat sports journalist, which means that there’s every chance this is going to happen.
While we don’t agree with the notion this is a risky fight for Canelo Alvarez, we do think Jake Paul should be applauded if he manages to get this one over the line. While Canelo has the Terence Crawford fight to think about in September, Paul knows that this is the biggest moment of his career by a country mile.
No, he isn’t going to win and he’s probably going to get violently knocked out – but a great payday looks like it awaits him.
