Canelo Alvarez Not Going To Have Compassion For Edgar Berlanga After He Dominates Him
Canelo Alvarez says he’s not going to have any compassion for Edgar Berlanga after he dominates him on Saturday.
Alvarez is set to take on Berlanga on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada in an intriguing matchup. The Mexican is a sizeable betting favorite, and he expects to cruise to a lopsided win, and he says he won’t have compassion for him on Saturday.
“I’m not going to have compassion for him,” Alvarez said, via BadLeftHook. “He needs 20 like him to give me a little problem.”
Edgar Berlanga, meanwhile, says he knows Canelo Alvarez is a tough test but he has confidence in his skill set. Berlanga says he needs to be on his A-Game to get the win on Saturday in Las Vegas.
“Canelo, he likes when people respect him,” Belanga says. “He feels like they’re his dog, like ‘I’m the guy that’s getting you paid.’ He’s a guy that’s cocky, he’s arrogant, you know, and he’s smiling in my face. Where we from we don’t respect big homies. I don’t care if he got all those titles. I’m not going to give you respect because I want your spot. I know the he’s a guy that has a lot of experience, so I got to be on my A-game that night. I can’t slip up, I can’t make mistakes.”
Canelo Alvarez is 61-2-2 as a pro and coming off a decision loss to Jaime Munguia back in May. The Mexican is set to defend his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles against Berlanga on Saturday. Alvarez has notable wins over Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, Gennady Golovkin, and Daniel Jacobs among others.
Edgar Berlanga, meanwhile, is 22-0 as a pro and coming off a TKO win over Padraig McCrory back in February. He has notable wins over Jason Quigley, Roamer Alexis Angulo, and Steve Rolls among others.
