Canelo Alvarez On Saunders: ‘Losers Always Make Excuses’
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is not impressed with Billy Joe Saunders making “excuses” about their fight before it has even taken place.
Saunders has recently made comments complaining about the judges who will officiate the title unification contest between himself and the 4 division world champion, Alvarez.
However, Alvarez has lashed out at Saunders for making these comments, in a recent interview with ESPN Deportes. ‘Canelo’ stated the following:
“Losers always make excuses, and always ahead of time. When I fight, I’m ready for any style. If you want to go out there and move, if you want to go out and do whatever you want, I am ready for that” (H/T Boxing Scene).
It is clear ‘Canelo’ is taking this fight extremely seriously, and is not allowing outside variables, such as the judges, effect his training or mentality. He stated that:
“I am aware that it is going to be a difficult fight, because he’s a left-hander, because of the style he has, but it is a matter of having patience.”
“You have to be patient, there are fighters with whom you have to be patient with. At that time (when I lost against Floyd Mayweather in 2013) I did not have the experience of today. I have the experience of being patient, looking for the moment, winning round by round, without needing to get desperate and wanting to get a knock out, I think it’s totally different now” (H/T Boxing Scene).
Canelo Alvarez faces off against Billy Joe Saunders in a WBC, WBO, WBA super middleweight unification bout on May 8th from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
