Canelo Alvarez Says He ‘Never Had As Much Bad Blood’ As He Does With Caleb Plant
Canelo Alvarez‘s next fight will be new territory for him.
That’s because in addition to having the chance to completely unify the super-middleweight division when he takes on Caleb Plant on November 6, he’ll also be fighting someone he genuinely dislikes.
In fact, it’s the most animosity Alvarez has ever had for anyone he’s stepped up to fight (via Michael Benson).
“This is new for me, I’ve never had as much bad blood with an opponent than this one,” Alvarez said on Showtime Boxing. “Yes, this is the most animosity that I’ve had heading into a big prize fight.”
In case it’s not obvious why, the duo had a viral press conference moment last month that resulted in Alvarez shoving and then countering Plant with a strike.
There was bad blood going into the conference already, and that incident just made things nuclear.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Alvarez channels his animosity and if it affects him when he faces Plant in a couple of weeks.
