Canelo Alvarez Set For November 6 Title Unification Clash With Caleb Plant
The super middleweight title unification clash between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant is finally happening.
It was reported Thursday that a deal had been agreed between the two parties for a November 6 clash in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Alvarez would post about the fight shortly afterwards on social media.
“🇺🇸 This Nov 6th we’ll put mexican boxing on top.Let’s go for the missing belt!”
Alvarez would also post a statement:
“I am very excited to have this fight before me. I am happy because I am going to make history, and in my career that’s exactly what I want to do — leave my mark in boxing. I can’t wait to see all my fans on November 6.”
This comes right after a September fight between the pair seemed to be in the works only for negotiations to break off after disagreements between the two camps last month.
Alvarez appeared set to fight another opponent — possibly Dmitry Bivol — but seemingly decided on reworking things with Plant’s team.
The winner of the fight will unify the entire 168-pound division with Alvarez holding the WBA, WBO and WBC super middleweight titles while Plant holds the IBF crown.
