Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford super fight is reportedly off

In the latest twist in the tale, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford – one of the biggest fights in the recent history of professional boxing – is no longer happening.
For the longest time, people had been talking about it: what if? What if Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, two of the biggest and best fighters of their generation, locked horns in a true superfight? Well, for the longest time, it seemed as if that dream was going to become a reality. Early reports indicated that things were on the right track, and that we could well be heading for Canelo vs Crawford.
Unfortunately, that may no longer be the case. If Ring Magazine is to be believed, then Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, as of this writing, is not going ahead.
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford is off
The report indicates that the two were originally planning on a collision at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada in September. However, for whatever reason, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford is no longer in the works. Crawford was set to move up in weight by two divisions in order to challenge the Mexican sensation for the super middleweight belts, but destiny seemingly has other ideas.
Instead, the immediate focus for Canelo Alvarez appears to be an astonishing meeting with Jake Paul. It’s something that ‘The Problem Child’ has been pushing for throughout the course of his time in professional boxing and now, it appears as if it may well actually happen.
For hardcore boxing fans, this is probably the worst news imaginable. Alas, we all know that negotiations can prove to be difficult at the elite level, and this may be nothing more than a delay. Hopefully, before the year is out, we at least get some movement on this fight happening.
