Carl Froch Warns Conor Benn Of Facing Gervonta Davis
Carl Froch doesn’t think Conor Benn should be chasing a fight with Gervonta Davis next time out.
Benn recently called out Davis and his promoter Eddie Hearn showed interest in making the fight with ‘Tank.’ It would be a massive fight, and one many boxing fans would enjoy.
However, Carl Froch believes Conor Benn needs more time before facing someone like Gervonta Davis and thinks it would be a tough fight for him.
“I’m interested in the Gervonta Davis fight. He’s the road killer from Baltimore and half of his friends are either dead or in prison. He’s one tough motherf—–, like a real hard man and he’s a weight division below Conor Benn. But I don’t think that’s a fight Conor Benn should be calling out. I just think Conor just needs to take his time a little bit.,” Froch said to Instant Casino.
“I know he’s desperate to fight and he wants to become a world champion, but you can’t jump in with these guys. You need a stepping stone. Conor Benn, has done what he’s done but he’s had an almost a two year break and now he’s calling out road killers. He can’t just be jumping in with these guys. He’s not ready. He needs to just build himself back up and get his license back first obviously,” Froch continued.
Conor Benn is 23-0 and coming off back-to-back lackluster decision wins over Peter Dobson and Rodolfo Orozco. In his first fight back after the suspension, he TKO’d Chris van Heerden. However, facing Gervonta Davis next would be a massive step up in competition for him, and Froch doesn’t think it will go well for him.
As for Gervonta Davis, he’s 29-0 and coming off a KO win over Ryan Garcia. Before that, he beat Hector Garcia by TKO and Rolly Romero by TKO.
