Carlos Takam vs. Jerry Forrest: Full Results
Top Rank Boxing returns tonight with a five-bout card headlined by an intriguing heavyweight contest. The main event sees France’s Carlos Takam (38-5-1, 28 KO) taking on the USA’s Jerry Forrest (26-3, 20 KO) in a ten-round clash. The scheduled start time for tonight’s event is 8 pm (ET)
Forrest’s original opponent was Jarrell Miller, who was pulled from the card for failing a drug test. A fight against Miller would have generated more media interest, but Forrest has been given an arguably tougher opponent in the shape of Takam.
The 39-year-old Cameroonian-born Frenchman will give Forrest an opportunity to prove that he deserves a shot at heavyweight division’s upper echelon. Takam’s losses have come at the hands of the likes of Povetkin, Parker, and Joshua. He is a rugged, durable fighter, and if Forrest can put him away, it will see his reputation receive a significant boost.
The co-main event is a super bantamweight clash between the rising prospect Carlos Castro (25-0, 10 KO) and Cesar Juarez ( 25-8, 19 KO). American heavyweight Jared Anderson (4-0, 4 KO) was scheduled to fight this evening, but his return has been postponed until July 21.
