Chantelle Cameron And Matchroom Boxing Part Ways
Chantelle Cameron and Matchroom Boxing have officially parted ways.
Cameron is the former undisputed super lightweight champion and has left Matchroom boxing, it was revealed on May 1 on social media.
“Matchroom Boxing can today confirm that we reached an agreement last month to release Chantelle Cameron from her promotional deal. We would like to wish Chantelle all the best in her future endeavours,” Matchroom Boxing wrote.
After the post, Cameron took to social media to thank Matchroom for letting her go.
Chantelle Cameron first signed with Matchroom Boxing in July of 2020 and WBC super lightweight title by beating Adriana Dos Santos Araujo. She then unified the division after beating Victoria Bustos and Jessica McCaskill.
Cameron’s frustration started with Matchroom after having to go to Dublin twice to face Katie Taylor. After beating Taylor in the first fight, Cameron had to go back into enemy territory as the champion, and after that, she voiced her frustration about that. She also claimed Hearn was more favorable to Taylor.
Currently, Cameron has not signed with a new boxing promoter and it’s uncertain who she will work with. But, Cameron is one of the biggest free agents available, as she is one of the top female boxers in the world.
There is also a big fight to make with Cameron-Taylor 3, or Cameron vs. Amanda Serrano should Serrano defeat Taylor in their rematch.
Chantelle Cameron is 18-1 as a pro and hasn’t fought since November when she lost a majority decision to Taylor, after she beat the Irishman by majority decision the first time out.
