Chris Eubank Jr. Donates £10k To Charity After Betting On Billy Joe Saunders To Lose By Stoppage Against Canelo Alvarez
Chris Eubank Jr. has done good with the money he won after he bet Canelo Alvarez to beat Billy Joe Saunders by stoppage.
In the lead-up to the highly-anticipated title fight, Eubank Jr. was confident Alvarez would not only hand Saunders his first pro loss, but would do so by stoppage. He ended up backing his words and put £10k on it and said if he won, he would donate that money to charity.
After the fight, and Alvarez winning by stoppage, Eubank Jr. stuck to his word and made the donation to charity as he posted it on Instagram.
“I was delighted to be able to donate £10,000 to Rockinghorse as for me, it’s extremely important to support charities close to home,” said Eubank Jr. “Rockinghorse do an amazing job and completely reply on donations to provide life-saving equipment and support for sick babies, children and young people throughout Sussex. This donation is the start of a long-term commitment from me to support Rockinghorse.”
The donation was massive for the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity as Janella Merritt, Head of Fundraising, said it will make a massive difference on hundreds of sick children.
“We are so thankful to Chris for making such a generous donation to Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. Being able to fund all this equipment will make such a difference to the experience of hundreds of sick children being treated at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton. A hospital stay can be a worrying time for children and their families but thanks to this amazing donation their visits will be made so much more comfortable.”
Chris Eubank Jr. is coming off a decision win over Marcus Morrison on May 1 to extend his winning streak to three.
