Dana White: Floyd Mayweather Looked Old Against Logan Paul
UFC President Dana White believes Floyd Mayweather showed his age against Logan Paul.
Back in June, Mayweather and Paul collided in an eight-round exhibition match. Paul looked considerably tired as the fight progressed but he managed to make it to the final bell. No official winner was declared.
During a chat with the Nelk Boys, White expressed his belief that Mayweather fought like an aging competitor (via BoxingScene.com).
“Have you ever met Floyd Mayweather in person? He’s f—— tiny, man. He’s tiny, and Logan’s f—— big, too. But, I thought he did a good job tying Floyd up, not letting Floyd get off when he was. And Floyd looked old that night, too. And I think Floyd knew he looked old that night.”
Mayweather had a chat with the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, at the end of a press conference for the Gervonta Davis vs. Mario Berrios fight. “Money” bragged about snatching a massive payday for a glorified sparring bout.
“I’m the only person that can do a fake fight and get $100 M’s. I could do legalized sparring and get $100 M’s. Am I the best bank robber? Because I don’t know nobody in sports that’s my age and can still stick ’em up like that.”
Mayweather has made it clear that he’s retired as far as pro boxing matches are concerned. He says he will continue to entertain exhibition matches that make sense. He had plans to return to Japan but the COVID-19 pandemic has seemingly poured cold water on things for now. Back in December 2018, Mayweather scored a first-round TKO win over kickboxing and MMA sensation Tenshin Nasukawa in Saitama, Japan.
As for Paul, it’s been reported that he is in talks for a boxing match against future UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva.
