Dana White Mocks Top Rank Ratings, Rips ‘D*ckhead’ Bob Arum
UFC president Dana White has continued his war of words with Bob Arum. White fired shots at the legendary boxing promoter who has condemned the MMA outlet for continuing to hold events throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking on the State of Combat podcast back in April Arum said.
“[White] ought to be ashamed of himself. What’s going on in this country and the world with this virus, the last thing we need is for an event to take place with no spectators just to get the event to take place. But the truth is Dana White is somebody with a flawed intelligence.”
Top Rank hosted their first event since the pandemic began on Tuesday night – it averaged 397,000 viewers. Another show on Thursday night did even less with an average of 311,000.
Speaking post-fight the UFC boss was keen to revel in the success his company had enjoyed as of late, while also poking fun at Top Rank and Arum who have had a less than successful return to hosting events
“So many people are watching, this is everybody’s time to shine,” White said. “The sport is at a whole other level right now, you know what I mean?”
“When we first started on ESPN, if you look at the ESPN totem pole, you had NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, these guys, right? And we were down like … we were one notch above Cornhole. Okay? Now we sit in a much better place on the ESPN totem pole than we did when we signed this deal a year and a half ago.
“By the way, Cornhole almost out-rated Top Rank the other night for their fights. So congratulations to Top Rank. Bob Arum, give him a shout out. Good job, Bob. You’re f–king brilliant. You d-ckhead.” (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
