Daniel Dubois Suggests Joe Joyce’s Blind Mother Is Lucky She Won’t Have To See Her Son Get Knocked Out
Daniel Dubois and his opponent, Joe Joyce’s mother had a unique exchange at the press conference.
The two rising, undefeated heavyweights will finally fight on Saturday and to promote the fight they held a press conference. At the end of the press conference, fans were allowed to ask questions where Joe Joyce’s mother Marvel, who is 93 percent blind, asked Daniel Dubois a question about pulling out and Dubois fired back at her (via TalkSport).
Marvel: “Daniel, if you get ill before the fight, are you going to pull out?
Daniel Dubois: “No my dear. You know what, I’m gonna do you a favor. Because you can’t see your son, after he’s been knocked out, you will be spared the heartache.”
Joe Joyce: “Oh, aren’t you nice.”
Marvel: “What would happen if you pulled out?”
Dubois: “There’s not gonna be no pulling out, I’m gonna be 100 percent for this fight.”
Daniel Dubois is 15-0 and looking to defend his British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver, and WBO heavyweight titles while also looking to win the vacant European heavyweight title. The 23-year-old has 14 knockouts including 10 taking place in either the first or second round. Even though he is still young, he does have notable wins over Kevin Johnson, Nathan Gorman, and Kyotaro Fujimoto. He also last competed back in August of this year where he knocked out Ricardo Snijders.
Joe Joyce, meanwhile, is 35-years-old but is just starting to take the boxing world by storm. Although he is getting up there in age, he is 11-0 and has looked impressive as of late. Joyce made his professional debut in 2017 and holds notable wins over Bryant Jennings, Joe Hanks, Bermane Stiverne, Ian Lewison and Lenroy Thomas.
This should be a phenomenal fight between two undefeated heavyweights who are looking to climb the ranks and start fighting the elite of the division.
